Kiev Hat HistoryWhat do you know about “Hat”? Maybe you'd like to know more about “Kiev Hat” of previous years?
2003 Not a very well known fact that the small tournament organized by Sergey Bondarenko in 2003 became a prototype of Kiev Hat. Around 30 people from Ukraine, Belarus and Russia participated. $ teams were composed and games were played between them. At that time not many understood what kind of Hat it will become. But it was the first fire start! Under impression of visited tournaments and with the aim to promote ultimate in Ukraine and just to see your friends the decision was made in 2005 to organize a tournament in Kiev. At the same time Dovbychka beach became a venue. The first beach tournament began. We hoped to see around 50 people but Kiev hospitality and free entry made its business – 80 people showed up! 8 teams were composed. Also mini-tournaments on Double Disk Court and Flubber-guts took place. And as a treat – before the Tournament the group of enthusiasts played Golf in Mariinskiy park in Kiev. Organization was simple, without budget, people got rubber gloves with sand and bottles of Zhyvchik as prizes. But the created atmosphere and hospitality promised a great future to the early tournament idea.
Nudists made the tournament a fun time, especially with the practical workshop “How to make love on the beach!” - just look back! :) Due to the interest growth of the Tournament in 2006 organization took a next level. Uniform, prizes, DJs and all the other things were arranged. The new name “Kiev Hat” appeared. The geography of the tournament grew also. The quantity of players grew up to 150, devided in 16 teams. The first “Ba-bah” – friendly game was organized before the tournament between teams from Kiev and Moscow. The things that most impressed at that time: the great quantity of wild bees (the new logo has them on it now!), naked seller of kvas drink, and residents of Ukrainian Comedy club - Stalevar and Aleksandr “Angel” Pedan who commented the final game.
2007 Year 2007. The main news – 16 teams were devided in 2 divisions (1st and 2nd). The tournament was agreed and announced by BULA (Beach Ultimate Lovers Assosiation). Launch of www.hat.com.ua, on-line drawing took place in chat.
2008 People gathered a couple of days prior to the tournament. They wanted to see Kiev, people came over to hang out, people wanted to have fun. The organizers had to think well on how to make the tournament even more entertaining, bigger. More then 200 participants, 20 teams (10 in each division), on-line video drawing, first championship in Ukraine in Dog-frisbee, ay-out contest (competition for the best and most picturesque jump catch), improved lounge zone with pillows and hookahs, and all the other things for people to get the best of their time on the beach
2009 All began on the 7-th of August, in the evening. The owners of Kiev Hat accepted the beforehand arriving participants of tournament on a beach and engaged them into organizational process. An evening was domestic as usually in Ukraine - free dumplings and beer from the Kiev female team "Dyki Krali" and music till morning. On the 8th Of August, in spite of a not typical gloomy weather, the opening of tournament took place and games began. The motto of tournament was a theme "The Whole Word in Hat!". Teams got the name of one of countries and tried, as possibly more brightly to present the country - these were and intricate suits, and body-art (began and finished on face), and specific limbering-ups and "yells", competitions in a circle after games, conduct of teams out of field.
The real apogee was a moment "A Minute of Cuddles"- in the special moment all began to hug with a row standings ultimate players, and them with a row standing hugging groups and one large hugging Ultimate-mass turned out as a result. But the most interesting was yet ahead - Open Air Party! Even a slightly rainy and cool weather could not spoil the expectation and effect of a Hat-evening-party. Video-screen with pictures with previous tournaments, inflammatory non-stop music, hookahs in a lounge-area, brandname "free" cocktails - "Zhivchik-Vodka","Redbull-Vodka" from real Zigolo. Air celestial flashlights. Al participants took part in their start. The weather became better in the second day, all games and finales of two divisions were played, the closing took place. At the end of tournament all participants traditionally were imprinted on a joint picture. Kiev Hat 2009 considerably heaved up its level - level of organization, fan and Ultimate and confirmed ones more, that a holidayis created not only byorganizers but also by participants.
