Christian JenneweinChristian JenneweinFfindr founder (http://ffindr.com/)
Kiev Hat: When did you participate in KievHat at first time? Christian: That was last year, in 2009. Sasha Stakhovski invited me, and I spent my vacation in Ukraine with the tournament as the highlight. Kiev Hat: What can you say about KievHat? What was the brightest moment on the tournament for you? Christian: I love the location, on a beautiful beach right in the centre of a big capital, only accessibly by boat. This is outstanding. Competition is great, talented and strong players are numerous. I was excited to meet so many new faces, the whole Eastern European Ultimate community seems to be there. The brightest tournament surely was the "vodka race" at the end... I battled with a strong Italian/Swiss guy and lost, but drank about half a bottle of Nemirov. This is just unforgettable.
Kiev Hat: How can you estimate the work of organizers team? Christian: Definitely a tough job. There are about 200 players to take care for and all this right in the heart of Kiev. They managed to find sponsors and to provide a mobile phone card for everyone, I have never seen this. Excellent work. The event run very smooth, so the organisers did an excellent job. Bravo! Kiev Hat: If somebody ask you: "Why should I go to Kiev to take part in the KievHat?" What do you answer? Christian: If you want to get to know a whole new bunch of Frisbee people... super hospitality... encounter a new culture (in case that you've never been to Ukraine)... enjoy great food.... get your ticket for Kiev Hat! Anyway, I think I already successfully recruited some people, if I am not mistaken then Patrick from BULA will come this year. I guess a more prominent player is hard to find. Kiev Hat: Make some critical points to the organizers, recommend something that, in your opinion, can make KeivHat better. Christian: Mmh, not sure how accomodation is managed. I stayed at a friend's place, so I didn't have to bother with this. But I know from another guy who had to rent an appartment on his own, pretty expensive compared to other options. If you want to get more internationals you maybe need to prepare some sort of all-inclusive packages. Kiev Hat: What do you think about parties on KievHat? Did you have an opportunity to sleep enough? Any interesting story for us? Christian: I must admit that I did not manage to play Frisbee at my best, far from it. The night before the tournament was extremely short, we were drinking far to much until far to late with some friends of Sasha at his grandmother's place. So getting up and chasing plastic all day long was kind of hard. Anyway, since Kiev Hat is not only about Frisbee I really enjoyed the experience. I am just a little sorry for my team (they made me captain although I speak no Russian at all) to not have been able to play at my best... but hey, we won some games and we had fun! Kiev Hat: How do you like girls who participate in the KievHat? People say, they are the main point of interest on the tournament. Are you agree? )) Christian: They definitely are. Ukraine is known for its beautiful women, and the Frisbee girls surely are no exception. Girls at Kiev Hat are strong Frisbee players, great athletes. I was surprised by the good level of women Ultimate, especially compared to other European countries. Keep up the good plays, and the good looks. Kiev Hat: Please, add something on a top if you want. Christian: I would love to come back this year, and I am working on a solution to make this happen. There can't be more proof that I enjoyed it I guess. |
